The Odds are Good, and the Goods Are, Too

On Thursday, January 5 at 10pm, the Idaho Lottery closed the books on one of the most popular lottery games of the year when they announced the winning numbers for the 2016 Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle. This year, the Raffle celebrated its tenth anniversary with the second fastest ticket sell-out in its history, with players purchasing all 250,000 tickets by December 23.

The 2016 raffle had more winners than ever—more than 6,700 in total. Every 25,000th ticket sold received an instant $1,000 cash prize, and below the $1M prize, two lucky ticket holders won $10,000 each on January 5. The remaining 6,700 prizes were divided between $250 and $25 winners.

According to Lottery Director Jeff Anderson, players have 180 days from the January 5 draw to claim prizes in the game. To check your tickets, visit, call the winning numbers hotline at 208-334-4656, use the Idaho Lottery’s Check-a-Ticket app, or visit an Idaho Lottery retail location near you. And if you’re a lucky winner, make sure to sign the back of your ticket before claiming your prize.

This year’s jackpot $1 million winner was Louise Cheney, who purchased her ticket at KJ’s in Malad.

Of course the biggest lottery winner continues to be the state of Idaho, whose public schools and Permanent Building Fund receive the lion’s share of all lottery ticket sales, totaling over $800,000 for this game alone.

CLM helped make this year’s raffle a success by providing strategic insights and media services to spread the word about this year’s raffle. Congrats to this year’s lucky winners, and thanks to the Idaho Lottery for sharing the marketing fun with the team at CLM!
